Most of us might already experience to be a mediator between the conflict of our passion and priority. It is like being a referee between the battle of our wants and needs. Admit it or not, it is obviously difficult for us weighing which is more important and what is to be done first in some circumstances. Some of us might choose to put wants first on their list and the others might pick the other way around. This inevitable part of our life is most evident during our student life. From simple waking up in the morning up to doing our assignments in the evening. Some of us are deprived to pursue what we want because we are obliged to do something. We like to play with our friends but assignments are piled in our notebook. We have only enough means to buy our favorite rubber shoes but our school required us to wear black shoes. We are eager to visit our Facebook page but our research work is continuously blinking in another tab. Sometimes, after a long courtship, women’s hearts beat “it’s time to say yes.” but their studious minds dictate “not now”. There are times that we think everything will be alright if we pursue “what we want to.” But later on, things that “what we have to” must be first on the list.
PASSION
I was once uttered to my special friend that “Soccer is my passion.” The she asked “What is passion?” I was speechless that time because admittedly, I do not know what passion really mean is. So I answered her which is obvious. “I don’t know.” Admit it or not, funny thing in us is that sometimes we use terms even we are not familiar with to make our statements more vivid and that will look us quite intelligent.
Going back to our conversation with regards to passion, my special friend then asked me what soccer is for me. Then I replied her that this is the thing that I want eagerly to do. This is where I can find happiness and keeps my excitement continuously riling up. This is where I can express myself. Unconsciously, as I telling her those sentences, she told me that I was able to define what passion is. It is something makes you contented and finds yourself happy.
PRIORITY
Before doing everything what we want to, we must accomplish first what we have to. This is the thing that always linger not only when I was a boy but also now that I already a man. Some of us might agree with me that when we were children, we cannot get rid of the temptation to play with our friends as we arrived from school or we are excited to turn on the television to watch our favorite anime. But before we could do that, our study table kept on heaving us urging us to do our assignments first. Every time we face the computer, sometimes, we first click the icon for games or swiftly type “facebook.com” but seconds will come,, we will notice the sticky note that continuously flashing reminding us “research first”. There are instances when we are in the middle of our excitement or to start up our excitement, a moment later, we realize we have something to do first.
PASSION VS. PRIORITY
Things that we have to do can be fulfilling if these are also the things that we want to. Confusion may arise if these two are not done at the same time. Results of our action in choosing what first to be done may be altered. It might be good and it might not. We are motivated to do our assignments if we are studious. We might be hesitant to do them if we are just interested in other things.
In our life, I must also say about the usual thing about life, our journey is full of choices. We just only need to be wise and consider all the things to be covered by our decision for us not to be surprised by the word “IF” at the end of our commitment.
